How To Make Easy Origami Pumpkins

Halloween is not so far away, so I started working on my Halloween decorations. I just love to make them my own, it’s much easier to customize them like this, then buying them, and cheaper.

Without further ado, let’s see how to make those bad boys.

How To Make Easy Origami Pumpkins

Origami Pumpkins Supply List:

For one pumpkin you will need 3 pieces of square paper and some glue. This pumpkin design was created by Paper Kawaii.

How To Make Easy Origami Pumpkins

Step 1: Fold the paper in half. If your paper has different colors, the pumpkin color should be facing down.

Step 2: Fold the left and right edges into the center, creating a kite shape, as shown in the image below.

How To Make Easy Origami Pumpkins

Step 3: Fold the top triangle down.

Step 4: Leaving a small gap at the top, fold the bottom corner up

How To Make Easy Origami Pumpkins

Step 5: Leaving a small gap, fold the top left and right corners inwards, to create the pumpkin shape. Make two more like this. Flip the modules over.

Step 6: We continue with only one of the three modules you have. Leaving a small gap, fold the top triangle back up.

How To Make Easy Origami Pumpkins

Step 7: Fold the right edge of the stalk to the left, at the same time push the bottom of it to form a small triangle fold. Do the same to the left side, these folds don’t need to be perfect.

How To Make Easy Origami Pumpkins

Step 8:  If you make bigger origami pumpkins, you can fold the edges a bit so it would be rounder. I haven’t done that for this one, because it’s kinda small. Now all you have to do is glue everything together.

They are so easy to make that I went nuts and made a lot of them. And then made two garlands variations. Just as a sample, to see how they look if you want to make them.

I used two circles die cuts from my Sizzis Big Shot to cut lots of circles. But you can use a perforator of even cut them by hand.

Then I folded the circles in half and glue 8 circles together to form round balls.

My first origami pumpkin garland is a horizontal type one. I live this one more than the one I made for a more vertical look.

For the vertical one, I had to glue two pumpkins together, so when the garland would rotate, it would be another pumpkin and not the back of one.

I really like how the pumpkins turned out, and they are really easy and relaxing to make.

Sweet Spring Kusudama Information

Name: Sweet Spring

Designer: Natalia Romanenko

Units: 30+60

Paper: 7×7 cm, 3.5×7 cm

Final height: ~ 12 cm

Assembling: 5 with 3, with glue

Sweet Spring Kusudama Designed By Natalia Romanenko

To make this beautiful Sweet Spring Kusudama you will need 30 pieces of square paper and 60 pieces of rectangular paper. If you want to have the star in one color or pattern and the middle in another, then you will need 30 and 30 pieces of rectangular paper.

Sweet Spring Kusudama Designed By Natalia Romanenko

The modules are not hard to make. They take some time because you have to make 90 in total, but it goes smoothly. The assembly is not that hard either.

Sweet Spring Kusudama Designed By Natalia Romanenko

The original instruction for Sweet Spring Kusudama is to not use glue when assembling. Mine would not stay together like that. It’s true that my middle layer (the star) has a different weight that the rest of the papers, so that might be the case. I used glue and everything was just fine.

Sweet Spring Kusudama Designed By Natalia Romanenko diagram

Above I made a diagram for this kusudama. I hope you can understand it. At the end, you just have to put the modules in one in other. I made a gif as well, where you can see how to assemble the modules.

Sweet Spring Kusudama Designed By Natalia Romanenko

To assemble the Sweet Spring Kusudama, you just have to go with the 5 and 3 rule. Then, you just have to curl the orange paper in my case and curl up the first star layer, the yellow one for me.

And you are all done.

Kusudama UVWXYZ Designed by Francesco Mancini

How to fold Kusudama UVWXYZ designed by Francesco Mancini

This time I folded Kusudama UVWXYZ, quite a name it has.

I love the way it looks. So modern and geometrical, and I think this paper that I bought from DM really works for this model. Having different patterns but the same color scheme, helps it have more dimension and structure.

How to fold Kusudama UVWXYZ designed by Francesco Mancini

To make Kusudama UVWXYZ you will need 30 pieces of paper. I used 5 pieces of 6 colors. I started by using a piece of  5.3cm X 7.5cm paper for each module. The final dimension of a module is 4.6cm x 3.5cm. And the Kusudama was about 10cm tall, I forgot to measure it.

I followed this video for instructions, it’s made by Tadashi Mori.

I did not find it difficult to fold the models. It has been pretty easy. The difficult part was assembling it and making it stay together and keep it its form, so I ended up gluing each module.

I liked it so much how it looks in this setting. The photos are made on a sculpture from a fountain. I should also mention that it was a bit windy outside and that the origami Kusudama UVWXYZ was not heavy at all. I think you already know what happened. But first, look how pretty it is.

And yes, the wind blew the Kusudama into to fountain. So, half of it got all wet. I thought I could save it once it dries, but it lost it’s posture so I  said my goodbyes and threw it away.

I do think I would make another one. I did like it a lot, and beside the assembling, which was a pain, it was a pleasant journey. Cutting the paper at the right size, making the modules, and taking photos of it, was a lovely way to spend my time.

Find Out How To Fold An Origami Jumping Frog

I haven’t played with paper frogs in a long long time, so I decided it was time to fold some and have some fun.

I love this model because is really easy to make and it really jumps. Unfortunately, I’m not good at filming so I can’t show you how they jump, but trust me, if you are going to fold it, you will have a great time playing with them.

I also don’t know the designer/author of this origami. If you do, please let me know in the comments section. Here is a video from happypuppytruffles who shows you how it’s made:

I used 15cm x 15cm square origami paper that I cut in half, and the final dimension, when pressed down, is about 4.5 cm.

My Origami Wedding White Cranes Garlands Backdrop

Origami Wedding Diy White Cranes Garlands Backdrop

Over a year ago I got married. It was a beautiful day in May. I knew from the start that white origami cranes will be a must. I also knew that I preferred to be outside or in a tent.

After a lot of searching and replanning and changing my mind a million times, we find a beautiful place, a terrace, a quiet one, even if it was close to the city center. We had only a few quests, family, and close friends.

I was not able to make 1000 white cranes in the garland format, but I did have 1000 origami cranes on the table. They were all one on top of each other in this jar.

Origami Wedding Diy White Cranes Garlands Backdrop

The cranes’ garland was laid down on the long table we all sat at. I could not found a photo with them…but they were pretty. We also had soap bubbles, and as I later learned, soup bubbles are evil. I tried to catch one of them and hit the wine glass which stained some of the cranes.

So…after more than a year I was finally able to take them outside and photograph them, as one of the concepts was. Here is my handmade Origami Wedding White Cranes Garlands Backdrop in all it’s beauty.

I’m so glad I took them in nature to really let them shine. I could not quite capture how beautiful they were, but I did my best, and hopefully, you will get an idea of how special your big day can be with some DIY origami cranes garlands.

3D Star Craft Set From Crelando Lidl

I got some amazing origami paper a while back from Lidl. The brand is Crelando and is called: 3D Star Craft Set. This time, I used a different paper, one that I got from a DM store, and used the instructions that came with the set from Lidl. It does not say who the author of the diagram is, unfortunately, but the result is nice.
