Origami stars christmas decoration

Origami Stars

Every year during the winter holidays, I like to decorate my windows with origami creations to give them a festive feel.

In 2022, I made these simple 3D origami stars.

The model might be traditional, I came across multiple tutorials for it, but none credited a specific designer, so I hope I’m not stepping on anyone’s toes.

Since this was back in 2022, I no longer remember the exact paper sizes.

The paper itself is gold cardboard from a local store called IPB, and origami paper from Auchan.

I believe the patterned stars started from a 20 cm square, and the gold star from a 25 cm square.

How do you fold these modular origami stars?

You need 5 squares of paper and a bit of glue, as the modules are joined together.

You can watch the short video below to see the exact steps.

But essentially: fold along the diagonal, bring the edges to the center, then bring the other edges to the center.

Turn the model over and fold it in half.

Now for the slightly tricky part, bring the left corner to the center of the model, then fold each star tip in half.

Finally, open a layer from the right side to glue the pieces together.

It’s an easy model anyone can make, and it folds up pretty quickly too!
