A Jar Full Of Origami Cranes

A Jar Full Of Origami Cranes

I always had a problem with origami cranes. I just love them, I love how they look, I love to fold them, I love to give them, and I love the story behind them.

So I end up with lots of them. I once made 1000 made from recycled paper and from different sizes. I tried to see how small can I go.

The photos are not so great as this happened in 2010, but I will show you some, because it’s nice to document those kind of stuff.

This is the only time I though to photograph them like this, all spread out.

I think this might be my second try for 1000 cranes, this time, some colorful ones, and much bigger. There are two final sizes of an open crane, from the tip of one wing to the other, is 3.5 cm and 2.7 cm.

I did not made 1000, part because I did not have enough from the same paper, of course I could use a different one, as long as it’s colored, but I also got lazy.

I counted them today and there are 879.

I am pretty sure I’m not the only one who loves them. It’s a simple model, a traditional one, and it might be the first origami model you learn how to fold, I don’t really remember.

Because of my love for this model I insisted to have folded origami cranes on my wedding day. I believe they create an amazing atmosphere and looks wonderful in photos.
